“As a gay person, I found that I was not really welcome in other churches, but here I feel so accepted and at home.”
At Altadena Community Church we do not simply tolerate diversity - we embrace it. We were one of the first churches in Southern California to officially declare itself Open and Affirming to members of all sexual orientations. We have evolved from a congregation that was traditionally Caucasian and middle class, to one that now also includes African American, Asian American, and Latino members, members who identify as gay or lesbian, as well as members of various economic means. Members of our congregation are also active in our denomination's Coalition for LGBT Concerns (LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender).
