Spiritual Growth
A deep sense of spirituality pervades our people and sanctuary. It comes from grace, therefore we cannot claim credit, but we are intentional about fostering its atmosphere. Our small groups function with communication guidelines, chief of which is listening for God in each person. We examine what we do with a goal of maintaining openness. The angels that preceded us created this jewel; we work to keep it polished.
Recent statements reflect this atmosphere:
“Every time I come to preach here I am struck by the sense of spirit in your sanctuary and in your prayers.”
“Where's the gossip I always hear about in small churches?”
“I walked into church and was greeted by angels, then a choir of angels sang. Immediately I felt like I'd always been here.”
“I look forward to the Adult Class. We have a wide range of subjects and teachers that are always stimulating.”
Spend a little time with us and hear the song your spirit sings!
Spiritual Growth Opportunities
Every group we offer brings opportunities for spiritual growth - examples include the following: Adult Education specifically addresses learning opportunities and always includes personal sharing and a prayerful sending circle. Our Choir is a spiritual outlet for many. The sharing of prayers, joys, and concerns during Worship is a special time. Teaching or volunteering with the Children or Youth is fulfilling. The Readers Group frequently features spiritual or religious issues. The Men's Group and WomenSpirit offer special bonding opportunities. The seasons of Advent and Lent afford special opportunities for in-depth and small group spiritual exploration. In addition, we feature a variety of evening spiritual growth opportunities. Past events have included Taize music, Labyrinth walks, healing rituals, and prayer and gathering times during critical world events. Equally important, we always look to create other growth opportunities to reflect your needs and desires.
