Care and Support

“When I came home from the hospital one of the church women
brought over dinner. That impressed me so much with the love in this church!”

Support Opportunities provide care and nurture for the needs of our members and friends, especially during the special and difficult times of their lives. Opportunities include:

o Card/Letter Writing Outreach/Ministry - for the encouragement and support of members and friends, when concerns and/or joys are made known or discovered
o Telephone Tree - for sharing important congregational/service information quickly and efficiently
o Pastoral Care and Pastoral Assistance Team
o Tuesday Morning Prayer Group/Special Prayer Vigils
o Memorial Service Coordination - for members and friends
o Grief Support Group - non-sectarian, open to all experiencing the death of a loved one

Pastoral Care

The church provides pastoral care and counseling to individuals in our congregation in times of crisis and difficulty. Our gifted and caring pastor, Joe McGowan, will engage in short-term pastoral care and counseling. If long-term support is needed, the pastor may provide a recommendation to a qualified counselor.

Pastoral Assistance Team

“When my 91-year-old church friend who had no relatives in this country was dying in the hospital I was doing the best I could for her, but it was hard. The church people were concerned and took turns sitting with her so that she would not die alone. What a blessing their support was to her and to me.”

The Pastoral Assistance Team consists of several gifted and trained volunteers. These individuals have made a long-term commitment to assist our pastor, Joe McGowan, in caring for and meeting the needs of the congregation (members and friends). “We meet you where you are” through warm, loving, caring support, visits, calls, letters/cards, etc.
