Children and Youth
“My children can hardly wait for it to be Sunday. They love coming to Church School (and the good things to eat at the coffee time helps too).”
At Altadena Community Church the education and support of our youth and children has always been a high priority. Programs and activities are coordinated by the Christian Education Ministry Team and Patty Judy, the Minister of Education.
Sunday morning classes begin for children from First to Sixth grades at 10:00 AM with a time of joyful music, which leads into the lessons of the day. Childcare is provided for infants up to kindergarten beginning at 9:45 AM. Junior and Senior High School students spend the first part of the morning in worship service and then depart for their own focused discussion group. ACC has developed a curriculum timeline that runs from January through the end of summer. During autumn, the focus for our youth is on coordinating special projects and preparing for the Christmas season.
ACC children and youth are regularly included in the various intergenerational activities of the church family and as participants during portions of the worship service. ACC youth have historically been regular attendees at the UCC church camp, Pilgrim Pines Camp and Conference Center, in the San Bernardino Mountains above Yucaipa
